| How many of you guys play an instrument? What do you play, how long, who are your main influences, etc? (Guitar Hero and skin flute don't count) | |

| Guitar Since the late 80's I don't have influences per say, I just play for the fun of it. Given the right circumstances, I'm one hell of a rhythm guitar player. I understand my limitations with the instrument. | |

| I play skin...ah nevermind.... I play drums. Been playing since I was 8 or 9ish. Had a mini band in high school. We came up with some good stuff recorded 2 songs and that was about it. The vocalist stopped returning our calls and that was the end of that. Then a year or two later I joined Phoenix Reign the band Im in now and been with them for 10 years. Ive had times where I just wanted to quit but i'll probably be with them til we decide to end it. Were like a family other than just being some band that makes music together and thats it. My influences are Nico Mcbrain, Matt Cameron (soundgarden), Uli Kusch, Ingo Schwitzenburg (helloween), Nick Menza, Mikkey Dee, Dave Lombardo, I cant even think of half of them.... What else do you want to know?? Heres a pic of what my kit looks like..I want a new one though | |

| I play guitar and my influences would be Michael Schenker, Angus Young, and Jimi Hendtix. As far as my skill level I am ok, but it has been years since I have played out. | |

| Started out on bass guitar around 1986...I basically wanted to sound like a cross between Geddy Lee and Geezer Butler. But I was living in an area with very few musicians so I was having a hard time "evolving" as a bass player (you need the interaction). So I switched to Guitar about a year later.
I'm not a "super technical" player, but I think I have my own sound and I'm comfortable with it. I'm completely self taught, never learned to read music, so I've figured everything out by ear. Practiced a few scales years ago, never really studied them...but one of my friends who was very schooled said I mix different types of modes together (without realizing it) and he think it's an interesting sound. Primary influences on guitar would be Jimi Hendrix, Tony Iommi, David Gilmour, Kenny Burrell, Ty Tabor, Robin Trower, Jimmy Page, Ian Anderson (love his acoustic guitar playing) and about a million others. Current Guitar: 1979 Gibson Explorer E2 - re-wired with active EMG pickups. Current Amp: saving up to buy an Orange.
I'm in the process of trying to teach myself piano now.
If I had it to do all over again I think I would have picked up saxophone instead.

| I'm a wanna be musician. At an early age, my grandmother tried to teach me piano and in college I tried my hand at playing bass. Nothing stuck. I have no musical ability, other than a decent set of pipes. I can carry a tune pretty well and one day I hope to be a Vegas lounge singer. | |

| ahhhh... I guess thats alright its kinda small, but hey gotta use what you got right? looks cool but how the hell do you use those roto toms? haha. What kind of cymbals do you use and what kind of pearl set is that? Looks like an older model. Mine is atleast 10 years old. I really want to upgrade and get something new but they are so damn expensive. I want to get a Pearl Reference set because thats what my snare is and it sounds great! But I also maybe want to get a different brand only because of the brackets that hold up the toms. Pearls are too stationary where as the others evolved and you can have more movement with where you want to put them. Then I can also get one of those racks that you put around the set. So many options so little money. Im waiting to hopefully get sponsored haha. | |

| Interesting to see double-bass drum sets still, I would say that 95% of the bands that I go see these days use a double-kick pedal on a single bass drum. | |

Not much anymore. They mostly set in the basement collecting dust.Haha.I try to go down and play at least once a week. Wayne-yeah its an older set of Pearl.I've had them 11 or 12 years and bought them used off a guy.The cymbals are mostly Paiste.Paiste hats,Crash,Ride.A couple are Sabian. The Splash and one of the Rides. The roto toms I never use, they just set over to the side.Haha.

But I bet you never see any bands have 2 bass drums and just use a double kick pedal have ya? Well guess who does that?......give up?...ME! Sometimes the places I play in dont have two mics so I always bring my double kick just in case. I have seperate pedals too just in case. I always feel more comfortable with 2 seperate pedals. If were playing a decent show I always bring both bass drums just cause it looks cool and also cause im more comfortable with the set up. When we play crap shows I bring minimal stuff. One time I forgot to bring the poles that hold up my toms so all I had was my snare, kick drum and floor tom and 4 cymbals. That was funny.
