Favorite era of music?

Mine is the 80's. I'm still livin' in 1988, and you can't stop me. The pop music was good, the metal music was good. It was a great time for myself.

80's, no contest

I voted 00s because I've recalibrated my favorite style of music.

In the past year or so I've realize glam/sleaze is my favorite musical genre and fortunately, this style is enjoying a resurgence thanks largely to Scandanavia.

I like the new thrash movement, but I think you can't touch the original.

I agree. And while I like the new thrash movement, only to a certain extent. Its cool that the bands are bringing back the old sound, but some of them can only imitate their idols so much it can get wankingly boring. But they're are a handful I really love.

Yeah, I prefer the new version of glam/sleaze because it seem to incorporate more of a punk vibe than stuff like New York Dolls and early Hanoi Rocks.

Hanoi Rocks was always a little too glammy for me. Theres 2 songs I really like, but there's a few songs that were hits that kept my away from buying the albums.

I'm a child of the 80s, therefore it's "my" era. I watched MTV fourteen hours a day from the time it first aired. I may be a metalhead but I'm still a sucker for good (and even some bad) 80s pop too. Memories, memories.

For my money, Hardcore Superstar, Backyard Babies, Miss Crazy, Crashdiet, Beautiful Creatures and a half dozen other current glam/sleaze bands blow the "classic" bands out of the water.

And that's not even including the new hair bands like Gotthard, Wig Wam, Shakra, etc.

Also, I enjoy the classics so much, by and large unless the newer band is amazing or at least good, I generally dont go bananas over new music

There's too much cool stuff that came out in the past for me to bother with alot of new stuff.

Exactly, I still discover ones I either dont remember or just never heard.

I grew up in the 80's but I didnt start getting into music heavily until the 90's. Everything I listen to just about started in the 80's but I think a lot of them started to get better in he 90's because they were trying to out do the grunge era. Some of them suceeded some of them didnt.

80s. probably due to the fact all these classic bands were new then but its when i first heard them...

The 80's of course.To me that was the best decade for everything.The music was great whether it was metal or pop.It just seems like life was simpler then.Of course I was still living at home with my parents.Haha

80's. That was my introduction to heavy metal, so I'm always gonna have fond memories of that music. And since going on these message boards, I'm finding all these hidden gems of that era that I missed the 1st time around.

I choose the 70's because my favorite bands came from that era such as Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Sex Pistols and I could go on and on.

But I grew up in the 80's and loved pop metal/ thrash metal/ 80's MTV pop hits, it was a great time in my life discovering music, beer, chicks, concerts, naked chicks, God to go back again would be great.

The 70's for me, not even close.

I like them all, but probably the 70s.

Alot of my favorite jazz albums were recorded in the mid-late 50's, I almost voted for it.

Spec's avatar and this thread really made me think if that incident didnt happen where they found out Jerry Lee married his teen cousin, he probably wouldve been as big as or maybe bigger than Elvis.
