Yeah, King Kong was good, I enjoyed it, but I prefer Bad Taste, Meet The Feebles and Dead Alive. If he had stayed in that vein, he may have been my favorite director.

And you know, I couldve sworn I posted a response about TCM somewhere on here, but damned if I can find it now

My wife and I watched the 1999 version of "House on Haunted Hill" last night, it was on AMC as part of their "Fear Fest" week... not a great flick but not the worst I've seen either

I love when you hear film snobs say "It sure is nice to see Peter Jackson doing so well after starting out with all those B-Movies" Laughing

I liked his version of "King Kong" (how hot is Naomi Watts by the way?), my main problem with it was that it was TOO DAMN LONG. It didn't need to be nearly three hours. The remake from the 70s told the same story in just under two (and it had a half-nekkid Jessica Lange too!)

Funny, I remember renting Jackson's "King Kong" and while we watched it my wife sez "Oh, why don't they just leave Kong alone? He doesn't want to hurt anybody, I hope there's a happy ending to this" and I sez "You've.... never seen either of the two previous versions of this film, have you?" When she sez "No," I sez "I've already said too much, I'll be quiet now." Laughing

It really has close to nothing in common with the original, but it was enjoyable for what it is. My wife can't watch it. That says something.

Right after "House on Haunted Hill" ended AMC ran a sequel that I didn't even know existed called "Return to House on Haunted Hill" - apparently it was a direct to video deal. It looked pretty cool but I didn't feel like staying up till 1 AM to watch the whole thing, so I'm gonna have to catch it again some other time.

You Jackson fans: Have any of you seen that spoof documentay he did? It's the only film heæs made that I have yet to see, and I'm still flogging myself for not picking it up the one time I've ever seen it in the shops! I think it's called Silver something.....

I think The Frighteneers is my favorite too.

Nope but that sounds like something I'd like.

I rented The Wicker Man earlier this week and Psycho on Sunday night. Last night I watched the making of Psycho documentary.

And I thought the Frighteners was pretty good.

As I recall, it's about midway between horror and a comedy.

Pretty much, I actually thought it was a comedy at first, it has Michael J. Fox in it right?

Yeah that's what I gathered from IMdb. I'll stick with the early Jackson.

In fact, since the suspended World Series game was cancelled tonight, I may pop in the unrated version of Dead Alive. Gotta have the unrated version of this one; sooooo much is cut out of the R rated version.
